Description

What was the Roundhouse? What’s the Roundhouse now? And why is it round?

Join us for an informal and story-based introductory guided tour at the Roundhouse.

We’ll discover the Roundhouse’s story; its journey from busy, noisy, Victorian depot, right through to modern-day hub with a new lease of life. A curious survivor of horses, manual workers, dereliction drama, live music and (almost) puppets.

This tour has an interactive twist or two, so be prepared to get involved…

Please Note: The newly revived Roundhouse is extremely photogenic. Bring a charged smartphone.

Roundhouse tour FAQs

Most frequent questions and answers

We recommend that on our tours, under 14s must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, with a ticket. We suggest our tours are for 10+ years.

Our Victorian cobbles can be a little uneven and steep in places, and most Roundhouse Birmingham experiences will involve some walking. Sturdy, sensible shoes are your friend.

The tour will involve plenty of movement around the site.
Most Roundhouse experiences will take you out into the great outdoors, even a tour at the Roundhouse.
This means two things:

  1. Here at Roundhouse Birmingham, we’re optimists.
  2. It’s best to prepare for the weather which in the UK, often means sunglasses and a poncho.

Our tour guides will use a headset microphone to make sure that everyone can hear them clearly. If you have headphones with a standard mini jack input, bring them along to use, if not, we have disposables (although we like to limit using them, for obvious reasons).

The audio systems are compatible with hearing loops and our guides will have them to hand. If your whole group needs to use the audio loop, please let us know so we can prepare.

Guided tours will go ahead whatever the weather.

Make sure to come along and check in at our reception least 10 minutes prior to the tour to make sure we’re ready to start on time!

Yes, please provide proof of your eligibility for concessions or discounts on arrival.
