A landscape image showing a canal that curves around to the left of the image. In the background of the image and down the canal are a few high rise apartment buildings. To the right of the canal is a towpath which curves around following the canal. On the towpath are a group of people walking away from the camera. There is an arched bridge down the canal route. All around the canal, path and image is greenery; green trees, green grass and green bushes.

Ladywood Heritage Walking Group and Beginner's Running Group

What’s it all about?

Roundhouse Birmingham, with funding from Birmingham City Council and in partnership with Run of a Kind, are setting up a regular walking group and a couch to 5k group to help Ladywood residents aged 50+ to get more active whilst learning more about the spaces and places in our local area.

The aim of our active groups is to encourage an active lifestyle, reinforcing the importance of being and staying active, especially as we age. We’re keen for this to be a social experience and want to hear about the areas in Ladywood that mean something to you. We hope to collaborate these into a new walking and running routes that will be free for anyone to use.

Anyone who is interested in getting involved is very welcome, but we’re particularly interested in hearing from those who are from or live in Ladywood and are aged 50+.

The group will meet every Tuesday 1:00 – 3:00pm, starting from the Visitor Centre at the Roundhouse.

No! Whether you’ve exercised before or are a complete beginner, we welcome everyone of all abilities to get involved.

You don’t need any specialist equipment, but we recommend you wear sturdy footwear and appropriate clothing for the weather. You can bring along a drink and a snack and anything else you feel will help you during the walk.

Starting something new can be a bit dauting. You’re more than welcome to bring along a friend or family member to make you feel more comfortable.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with us via walk@roundhousebirmingham.org.uk.
