Crucially, the Roundhouse plugged into a network of depots, wharfs, stables and canals by offering something essential for Victorian Brum – horsepower – stabling up to 43 of Birmingham’s working horses. As the decades passed, the building lost its original purpose, but remarkably, unlike most of the neighbouring Victorian buildings, the Roundhouse continued to be used, and has survived into the 21st century.

Group visits

Groups of 8 or more people are eligible for the concession rate on each ticket purchased, Tuesday to Thursday, and Friday during school term-time. If you’d like to arrange a group visit of 8 or more people, please contact us directly. //get in touch

Please make sure to arrive 15 minutes before your tour start time in order to check in at our Visitor Centre.

Most of our tours will have a short introduction at the starting location, so if you’re running a few minutes late there may be the chance to catch up. Unfortunately, if you miss the boat (pun intended) and the tour has already begun, it will be difficult to unite you with the group.

Refunds and exchanges

Please check your e-tickets as soon as you receive them. From the moment that the transaction is completed all tickets are non-refundable. We’re able to exchange them for an alternative date, dependent on availability. Exchanges can be made up to one week before the original booking date, after this point no exchanges are possible. We cannot refund money or exchange tickets, except in the case of a cancelled tour, which will be refunded within 28 days.

If Roundhouse Birmingham need to cancel a tour, we will announce it as soon as possible. Please check our website, Facebook and Twitter pages regularly for updates. If you’ve bought tickets we will contact you, usually via email or telephone, and arrange a ticket refund or exchange.

Booking fee

We try to keep our fees as low as possible. Unlike many organisations, our fees are applied per transaction and not per ticket. Fees reflect the costs of providing the service, such as card processing costs, staffing, and developing and maintaining the booking software.

What’s the commission fee for?

Roundhouse Birmingham is a charity. This fee contributes to our ticketing system, ticket sales and fulfilment costs. Alongside other income streams such as commercial hires, bars and hospitality, it helps us to stay an effective business, which in turn allows us to reinvest in community engagement work.

Ways to donate

There are many ways you can support Roundhouse Birmingham:

  • You can add a donation to your tour booking (suggested donation is 10% of total cost of your order)
  • You can donate independently online??? //link
  • When you visit us, you can pop some money in the donation box in the Visitor Centre

Your donation – big or small – will make a difference and is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Gift Aid

Gift Aid is an HMRC scheme that increases the value of donations from UK taxpayers by 25%, at no extra cost to the donor. For example, Gift Aid increases a £10.00 donation to £12.50, providing extra support for our work. To make your support go further with Gift Aid, please talk to our Visitor Reception team when you book or register online through your account page.

We are a charity

Roundhouse Birmingham is an independent charity with the aim of making this beautiful old building self-sustaining by giving it a new purpose. When you buy a ticket for one of our tours, purchase something in our gift shop or become one of our tenants, you’re directly helping to safeguard the future of the Roundhouse, enabling our work with the local community.
