Walking tour | Litter Picking Walks

Join in with Roundhouse Birmingham’s litter picking walks along the canal on Friday 13th June, as part of Great Big Green Week.

About this experience

14 million pieces of plastic rubbish end up in and around our waterways each year, which can be dangerous for both people and wildlife. Help us to tackle the challenge by joining us for a litter pick.

We will provide all the equipment you need (bags, gloves, litter pickers) but you are welcome to bring along your own. Once the litter has been collected, bring it back to the Roundhouse where we will dispose of it.

We are an independent charity with the aim of making this beautiful old building self-sustaining by giving it a new purpose. When you buy a ticket for one of our tours, purchase something in our gift shop or make a donation, you’re directly helping to support the future of the Roundhouse, enabling our work with the local community. The ticket price for this event goes towards covering volunteer expenses, equipment and insurances.

Great Big Green Week is the the UK’s biggest ever celebration of community action, that tackles climate change and protects nature.

Any under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult.

  • A guided walk, with some local history, all whilst litter picking around Birmingham’s waterways.
  • Fully guided by our team of trained and experienced tour guides.

  • On arrival, you’ll be warmly welcomed at the Visitor Centre where you will get issued with your equipment.
  • The trip will set off from the Roundhouse, and you’ll be walking around Birmingham’s canal network.
  • The tour finishes back at the Roundhouse.

Our guided tours and walks will go ahead whatever the weather, so plan accordingly.

Your tour guide will use audio systems to ensure that they are audible in the busy city environment.

Tour headsets are available so everyone can hear clearly. Please bring plug in headphones if you have them, or you can use those we have available.

If a number of people in your group would benefit from the tour guide system’s hearing loop, call ahead to let us know on 0121 716 4077, or by emailing bookings@roundhousebirmingham.org.uk
