Description
Explore our grade 2* listed courtyard by candlelight, on a tour telling the story of the Roundhouse’s journey from canal wharf to noisy Victorian public works stables, right through to its new purpose as a modern-day heritage and wellbeing hub. On this one-off tour, you’ll learn about the history of the lamplighters, an essential workforce based at the Roundhouse in the 1800’s who brought light into the streets of Victorian Birmingham. You’ll also discover the Victorian people (and horses) who made the Roundhouse a 24/7 hub for the city of Birmingham.
Join us on Thursday 20th February for a candlelit tour, some arts and crafts or a neon paddle and see the Roundhouse in a different light, as our courtyard will be illuminated temporarily in colour.
The is a special one-off at the start of our exciting tour season. This is outdoors, so please wear weather appropriate clothing.
