Funders
Here is some information about our funders, without their support, none of this would have been possible.
Canal & River Trust
We’re the charity who look after and bring to life 2,000 miles of waterways, because we believe that life is better by water. Our research shows that spending time by water, whether it be your lunch break, daily commute or just a weekend stroll, really does make us feel happier and healthier. We’re working with volunteers and communities across England and Wales to transform canals and rivers into spaces where local people want to spend time and feel better. We know this will bring wellbeing opportunities to millions.
National Trust
The National Trust was founded over 125 years ago, with the core charitable purpose of protecting special places for the benefit of the nation; for everyone, forever. To fulfil our charitable purpose for the whole nation, we needed to look beyond our rural visitor attractions to the places that matter most to people, which are often those closest to home, when 80% of the UK population live in towns and cities. We created an ‘Urban Places’ strategy to help look after special places that sit outside of our ownership, including local greenspaces and heritage, share our skills and develop new ways to protect them.
Birmingham is the UK’s second city and our partnership with Canal & River Trust aimed to bring the Roundhouse building to life, creating a self-sustaining heritage attraction that engages a wider audience, brings people together, and engages people with their environment through both urban industrial heritage and water-based outdoor activities.
Gratefully supported by
National Lottery Heritage Fund
Using money raised by the National Lottery, we inspire, lead and resource the UK’s heritage to create positive and lasting change for people and communities, now and in the future.
Historic England
Historic England is the public body that helps people care for, enjoy and celebrate England’s spectacular historic environment, from barrows and battlefields to parks and potteries. We protect, champion and save the places that define who we are and where we’ve come from as a nation. We care passionately about the stories they tell, the ideas they represent and the people who live, work and play among them. Working with communities and specialists we share our passion, knowledge and skills to inspire interest, care and conservation, so everyone can keep enjoying and looking after the history that surrounds us all.
